iAccelerate Centre Launch Video for The University of Wollongong
The NSW Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy the Hon. Anthony Roberts MP officially opened the University of Wollongong’s new innovation centre, business incubator and accelerator, the iAccelerate Centre, on 19th July 2016.
The state-of-the-art, three-storey, 4000 square metre building features “plug and go” expandable space for more than 280 entrepreneurs. The centre houses a set of tailored acceleration programs aimed at rapidly developing and delivering technology-focused businesses. It is a place where people can explore new ideas and technologies, take risks and connect their work with others.
The building’s design pays homage to the Port and Illawarra’s export heritage and heralds a new era where innovation, technology and ideas are exported from the Illawarra to the world.
Exposed steel was used throughout the building as a vote of confidence and to show support to the local Illawarra steel manufacturing industry and its employees. The appearance of the weathered steel is that it changes over time and transcends into its own self, reflecting the transitions that the entrepreneurs in the facility are experiencing.
The investment in a purpose-built building will have significant, far reaching and long-lasting positive outcomes for not only the Illawarra but also for NSW more broadly.
THE CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
TEN ALPHAS have been appointed the Filmmakers in Residence at iAccelerate and were asked to produce a launch video for the opening of the iAccelerate building.
We were briefed to highlight the centre’s architectural features, its themes of innovation, creative thinking and technology,
To do this, we used a variety of production techniques, such as drones, time lapse photography and hybrid animation graphic elements.
The video was released at the Official Launch with local dignitaries such as the Mayor, local MP’s, Vice Chancellor and the media present, and was greeted with spontaneous applause upon its conclusion.
Since then the video has been issued as part of the PR campaign and seeded socially to great effect.
